Is the Single Family Home Market headed towards a recession?

In the last two days the Dallas Morning News business section has had headlines that single family home sales have fallen for five months in a row and builders are cutting back on new home starts. Is the combination of increasing interest rates and construction costs is causing the real estate single family home market to start heading toward recession territory?
